  • Pliggs · 1 year ago
    STUMBLED!

Good read, I find commenting on other blogs to be the most effective way to gain traffic and exposure.

I have yet to take full advantage of micro blogging with twitter etc..., not really sure on how to properly use these services, but in time will read some tutorials.

I will definitely be sharing this article, I will post it to my usual social media sites.

Micro blogging can be much more effective when you can keep yourself active in it. Get to know your followers and talk with them. It's easier if you can use a desktop client like Twhirl -this way you are always connected!

Very nice post. When will google give there next page rank update?
  • Tamal Anwar · 1 year ago
Page rank update is yet to come, maybe the end of December or the beginning of 2009. The last rank update was in the end of July. It's been a long time, I hope this time they are bringing some new results for us!

How much of your traffic would you attribute to Twitter for example?

I will do a Google search for Twhirl and check it out.

My twitter traffic is increasing but it's not that much to tell (maybe lass than 10%) but it's increasing.

Twhirl is a great tool for desktop twitter. You can use multiple accounts at once.

Good tips. I'm surprised about 'don't worry about relevant links", but seems logical for building traffic early on. The link back seems to work only on the same platform for free sites like Blogger (which I use) and Wordpress.com --- so that cuts your links somewhat. I've written posts about other blogs but don't see the linkback at their sites if on a different database. In particular my guest post on WP included other linkbacks but not the article I did on my blog about the guest post experience.. lol
Appreciate the list, covers a lot of territory. Good advice to attack slowly and analysis each effect and your discipline.

@thessyuson and @SBA Thanks for the comment and I hope this extended list will help you to build up links. It's not just for SEO, it will also help you to build your blog's existence on the internet. Every link is important because it delivers some traffic over time and in blogging every link, every hit counts...

Great post as always buddy. Look out for using blog carnival as the next tool for building links. And thanks for the link love =)

Thanks Wei for the tip. I was thinking about the carnival as a link builder, but didn't mentioned it as I don't really know how it works. You should write about what you know, right? So tell me what are you working on for your blog?

I am currently trying out to improve my SEO for the keywords I am targeting. In fact, it is an experiment that I chosen to work on after StumbleUpon. =)

Thanks for sharing these tips. You too have made clear about not going all out for instant success by doing everything in a day. Lol. Sure helped clear up the air for other bloggers who are starting out.
